Apple Has Stopped Signing iOS 5.0.1

Apple Has Stopped Signing iOS 5.0.1

Posted March 9, 2012 at 11:03pm by iClarified
Apple has ended the window for installing iOS 5.0.1 on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, reports ModMyi.

A5 devices are now immovable from iOS 5.1 if they have been updated until a solution for downgrading can be found. SHSH blobs will not do you any good for downgrading an A5 device at this time.

Please be extra careful not to accidentally update to iOS 5.1 via iTunes or Software Update on your device. If you do update you may lose the ability to jailbreak for quite some time.

A4 devices with saved blobs can still be downgraded as usual.

Recently I tried to downgrade my 5.1 to IOS 4.1, and it seems that Apple stopped Signing the iOS 4.1 too. Could someone please confirm this..

Do that mean that I am not able to upgrade (not just downgrade) from iOS4.3.1 to iOS5.0.1 either using NO_BB IPSW? I am getting error 3194 from iTUNE with host file pointed to Apple. Am I a bit too late?

Ok this is low down of course the A5 devices part is correct so that means ipad2 ios5+ and 4s CANT be restored to any fw but the ones apple is signing no matter if you have your SHSH's (i would still save them anyways so when a time comes that you can use them you will be able to downgrade)...as for non-A5 devices i4 and lower the only way to restore to ios5 is by stitched IPSW from redsnow as the old method of using TSS server will not work so create a stitched ipsw in extra>shsh blobs> stitch ipsw select 5.0.1ipsw for your device then select the 5.0.1 shsh blob for that device hit next and it will create a stitched ipsw...once done set phone on PWNED dfu (of course with redsnow) then just Shift+restore and point it to the stitched ipsw done....THIS IS THE ONLY METHOD Of RESTORING TO IOS5

Do i need to point it to Saurik's servers or leave the hosts file with the default config?

You my friend are lifesaver... This actually worked! I tried it with redsnow and it didnt work, but i gave it a shot with iFaith, same procedure as youve mentioned for redsnow, and that did the trick. Upgraded to 5.0.1 and Preserved my Baseband as well. Thanks a ton.

I double that. Anyway, once the stock firmware is up and running, JB with Redsnow 0.9.10b1 and you're all set. For whoever is reading this thread and having problems updating to 5.X.X, this method WORKS. Thanks once again to Young.

You sir are a true gentleman! AND A FREAKEN GENIUS. I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure this one out. Thank you man, thank you so much!!! I was upgrading from 4.3.3 bb 4.10.1 to 5.0.1 and it just worked like a charm. This method is 100% proof. Awsome!

Can I use this method to upgrade my iPhone 4 to ios 5.0.1? I am currently on version 4.2.1 BB 03.10.01( I want to preserve BB). Thanks

Yes it will work just as long as you follow the steps I posted you'll be fine and stitched ipsw doesn't touch the baseband so your good.

Use latest redsnow and use fix recovery or just proceed to jb the device

Im with ya. Rule of jb is to hold tight until you have a devIce you can "Play Dev" with or can w/o a doubt upgrade to. I know I talk shit here, but I generally right. The real news here is that they stopped signing so quickly after release.

Ands yeah- I forgot to make my point: When in doubt, go without. Consider that every recommendation from upgrades to sex. "and if ya don't know, now ya know."

I dont understand why can't A5 Devices that have SHSH saved downgrade?
Young
Young - March 10, 2012 at 7:58am
Cause A5 devices need a bootrom exploit...so until then shsh's cant be used

I was trying to update from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 with preserved baseband with a custom firmware from pwnagetool and kept on getting a 20 or 21 error through itunes

I was just in the process of upgrading my iphone 4 to ios 5.0.1 while preserving my baseband, just as I saw this post. Can I still go ahead and do it?

This hasnt affected A4 devices. If it's an iPhone 4, there should be no problem if you want to upgrade to 5.0.1 and later downgrade as long as you have your SHSH blobs saved, that is.

Young - March 10, 2012 at 8:01am
LOL saving the ipsw means nothing if you mean SHSH then still means nothing right now (still save shsh's thou) you missed the windows theres nothing you can do (now) why in the world did you wait till now to want to restore

Adie - March 10, 2012 at 2:32pm
If I could have updated I would have but been away the last few months I fully understand about saving my blobs using tiny umbrella the point I'm getting at is if I right click on the iTunes update button then use the 5.0.1 ispw to do the update instead down loading 5.1 will it still update or do I only have the option of 5.1 now ??
