iPad 3 Concept Features Edge-to-Edge Display, No Home Button [Video]

Posted February 28, 2012 at 8:42pm by iClarified
A new video from Aatma Studio shows a concept iPad 3 that features an edge-to-edge screen and no home button.

Key highlights of the iPad 3 Concept features include edge-to-edge screen, magnetic iPads with near field communications (NFC) and 3d holographic display for multiplayer games

This computer generated iPad 3 concept video pushes the envelope in iPad design and iPad features, just like its hugely successful sister video 'iPhone 5 Concept Features' did with iPhone design and iPhone features. We hope this Concept iPad 3 preview provides you as much entertainment as an iPad 3 commercial or iPad 3 official video or an iPad 3 review, before the actual iPad 3 unboxing.

Interestingly, the iPad 3 announcement invite doesn't show a home button. Of course, Apple could have just rotated the device for the photo; however, it does spark speculation that Apple is ditching the button in favor of its new multi-tasking gestures.

Take a look below...

While I applaud the artists of this video for their imagination and cool presentation, I wouldn't be getting my hopes up for a '3D holographic display' any time soon. People have been imagining that this type of technology will be 'just around the corner' since at least the 1960s. The fact is that it simply does not exist.

Hopefully the next generation iPhone resembles the device seen in the iPhone 5 video, especially the dimensions

But why? Why is everyone obsessed with borderless devices with edge to edge displays? How would you hold an ipad with no border without accidentally touching the screen?

The device just has a border defined in software that is doesn't respond too in those areas !

I know right?! that concept of "borderless" just looks plain ugly and would be annoying to me.

This sure looks sweet. But this would probably be iPad 6 or 7 :)
