Google Has Submitted a Native Gmail App to Apple for Approval?

Google has reportedly submitted a native Gmail app to the App Store for review, reports MG Siegler.

Google is on the verge of launching their native Gmail app, multiple sources tell me. In fact, I believe it has already been submitted to Apple for review. If it gets approved, it should be out soon. And I think it's going to be approved.

While Gmail already has a pretty good web app, the native app is said to be 'pretty fantastic'. You might ask why you would want a native application when the web app works just fine. Well, the big benefit is Push Notifications among other improvements.

The native Gmail app will likely bring other key functionality as well: like Priority Inbox and one-click starring of messages. Other possibilities include some of the stuff Google is about to roll out for Gmail proper: like contact icons, better threading, and deep searching functionality. Maybe there will even be some Google+ integration, which Google is also hard at work on for Gmail.

It will be interesting to see if Google can get the app past Apple's approval process...

I was thinking the same thing.. Just stupid having to have a separate app to get Push for Gmail.. Even @Hotmail and @live has it in the iOS Mail app.. Gmail is feeling a bit 1990's now..

Just set up your Gmail account as an exchange account using Gmail's servers. Voila you have working push. The Gmail setup in Apple's mail app has been broken forever.

But isn't Exchange known to cause issues and shit when being synced with several services/devices..?
