The Merciless Alarm Clock For iOS

Independent developers Pedro Alejandro Wunderlich and Andres Canella have introduced Wake N Shake 1.0 for the iPhone - The Merciless Alarm Clock, their new Productivity app that can only be turned off by shaking the iPhone vigorously. Designed to fully awaken even the soundest sleepers, it has no snooze button or shut off. Wake N Shake helps users get their day started with a jolt of energy. The Wake N Shake alarm clock app for iOS includes the following features: display of time remaining till the alarm, 24 creative alarm sounds, unlimited alarms, app runs in the background, quick naps, shuffle alarm sounds, vibrate function, animated alarm clock character, and red neon numerals for viewing in the dark.

One glance at the Wake N Shake alarm clock and it is clear that this is an app with a sense of humor. Alarmi, the red neon, alarm clock cartoon character stands above the large, numerical readout. Silently, he smiles, blinks, dozes off, scratches himself, chews bubble gum, thinks, and snores. Setting the alarm is easy using the Apple picker, that lets the user dial in the exact time they want the alarm to go off. Unlike most alarm clocks, Wake N Shake then displays the hours, minutes, and seconds remaining until it is time to get up and shake the iPhone. Of course, the real innovation of the app is the Shake Meter. A tall, thermometer-like indicator, the iPhone must be shaken vigorously to make the meter go up, reach the top, and shut of the alarm. Shaking and resting does not work; the meter drops back down. Only continuous, hard shaking, sufficient to bring anyone out of sleep, will silence the alarm. This feature is quite amusing when first demonstrated, and soon becomes a regular, beneficial part of the user's morning regimen. The level of shaking intensity required is user adjustable, and recurring daily alarms can be set in advance.


The developers have truly let their creativity run wild when designing the alarm sounds. A robot voice commands you to arise and make French toast, or an interplanetary space war breaks out in your apartment.
