These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS on the 4.3.5 firmware using RedSn0w for Windows. The Mac version of this tutorial is here. If you are on 4.3.3 or lower make sure you do NOT update to iOS 4.3.5. Use the untethered JailbreakMe instead. You can find the appropriate JailbreakMe tutorial here.

Make sure not to update to iOS 4.3.5 if you need an unlock as one is not yet available. Also please note that this jailbreak is tethered for those on the new bootrom.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage

Download RedSn0w 0.9.8b7b from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the latest 4.3.5 firmware from below and place it in the same folder.

*As usual a big thanks to the iPhone Dev-Team for their hard work and contribution to the iPhone community.
**Windows 7 users can try running RedSn0w as an administrator in Windows Vista or XP compatibility mode if you experience any difficulties.

BOOT TETHERED
Once RedSn0w has finished jailbreaking your device you will need to boot it tethered if you have a newer iPhone. Rerun RedSn0w and this time select Just boot tethered right now from the list of options instead of installing Cydia.

Hi, I just baught a 3GS 32Gb Iphone and it's already unlocked in another country, now i'm using it with a different sim which works great but it's not jailbroken ( no cydia installed ), model number is MC133B and it's also Old boot. I was wondering if i jailbreak my iphone will it be locked again? and how can i check if it is factory unlocked. Note that the IOS is 4.3.5 and BB 05.16.02. that's why i'm worried about jailbreaking it coz if it's locked i will be stuck in this unlockable baseband and i'll have to upgrade to BB 6.15 and loose my GPS which i don't want to. Any help?!

Select the 4.3.4 firmware ipsw instead. That is a typo in the tutorial. In the screenshot it shows 4.3.4.

try running redsn0w again and now just select the "just boot tethered right now" option. you will be able to open cydia icon after the process is completed, but the unlock isn't workign yet.

I would like to warn you all that redsnow does not work with 4.3.5 yet as their website says. They are just fooling people and taking money. you have to downgrade to a lower version so that jailbreak and unlock both happen successfully.

Step Five says to select the 4.3.5 firmware but the picture shows you selecting 4.3.4. Im assuming its 4.3.4 you mean seeing as your instructinos have you download it for some reason

U have to pick the 4.3.4 because the 4.3.5 is not reconized by redsn0w
