This tutorial will use WinPwn to unlock and jailbreak your 2G iPhone on the 2.0 firmware.

Some 2G users have experienced problems with the latest version of WinPwn. Make sure to set the partition size to 512MB or higher!

To follow this tutorial you will need to have iTunes 7.7 installed (make sure to reboot). Also, you may need to download and install .Net Framework if you are on Windows XP.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage. In it place the following files: Winpwn 2.0.0.4 or Winpwn 2.0.0.4 , 3.9BL , 4.6BL , and the latest 2.0 firmware.

My 2g iPhone wil shut down on its own as soon as it starts. But when I take the SIM card out it will start up fine and I can use it has a iPod. I have tried the restore multiple times as well as downloading different .IPSW's I am using redsn0w-win_0.7.2. Anything I do my iPhone still shuts down. I tried starting it up then putting the SIM card in after it starts up but as soon as I call someone or after 10-30 mins it shuts down again then after that it just keeps shutting down when I start it please help?

Hey Deeps and all, I was wondering if anyone has recently (in 2009) been able to unlock iphone (2g) using this above tutorial. And still has been able to use it with ATT? I am with ATT and I want to use 2g iphone (after unlocking it using this above procedure) but don't want to buy and pay for data plan (since I don't want to use it). I see that this tutorial has been of real help to lot of guys..unlike ebay, here I can at least see come reviews. So please guys, hit back as soon as you can. Thanks a ton.

hey all! need some help here, been searching for 2 days now and i don't seem to get an answer by reading posts so i decided to post myself. here it goes! i have an iphone 3g witch was working perfectly, running 2.2.1, jailbroken by Quickpnw on mac. 2 days ago my wifi suddenly died :( tried resetting, restoring and everything else i could find. no success....... i read about a number of other fixes using tools like ZiPhone or iLiberty, so i downloaded the apps, preff want to use iLiberty cos of the problems with ZiPone (wanna keep my last resort to turn to apple for repair) anyways.... iLibery recognizes my phone, but when it tries to set it to recoverymode my computer doesn't recognize the phone and it is stuck in recoverymode... have to restore evey time i get this (did it to may times now, trying different ways). found a workaround for this: put it in recovery mode manually (still isn't recognized but i can reboot it back to normal mode :) ok googled some more on this problem, found multiple things like it would not work on 10.5.6, connect to an usb hub and dunno what else i tried. wel i tried it on my vista x64 doesn't work, tried it on xp sp2 (not 64 bit) doesn't work, tried it on osx86 10.5.4 doesn't work....... dunno what to try else.. summary to my problem: - phone recognized by itunes in all states - on osx 10.5.6 quickpwn CAN pwn it - in recoverymode it is not recognized by any program except itunes i have tried mulitple programs and mulitple computers - not to forget the problem that my wifi is dead ;) any help or ideas are very welcome! thanx in advance!

I have recently received the first generation (2G) iPhone, version 1.1.4. and using Vodacom as my service provider. I have activated my GPRS, or atleast that is what i think i activated, and seem to be able to get access to the internet and mail. some Internet addresses deny me access, saying that my edge is not activated. does anyone know the easiest and most cost effective way of activating my edge. you can reply to me @ shanemac101@gmail.com, I will really appreciate the help. thanks

I got it right. Didn't succeed with my PC so I took it to a friend and installed iTunes 7.7 onto his system and did the upgrade (Note both Windows XP) . Worked first time. Upgraded from 1.1.2 to 2.0.1 using iTunes 7.7. You can get older versions of iTunes from www.filehippo.com. I don't think the version of iTunes has anything to do with it though (as long as it is later than 7.7....correct me if I am wrong). My last option was to uninstall all Apple products as written on the Apple Website help, and re-install, but I didn't have to do that. By the way, I also didn't need to make any mods to my Edge settings. I am on a Vodacom contract and I was able to set the APN normally from the network settings, and Safari worked immediately. I will let you know if the Edge settings revert, but for now it is working well. Feel free to write to me at deeps@vodamail.co.za if you need help.

tried to update from my 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 following the steps but I always get an error 6 from iTunes. I tried to downgrade it back to 1.1.4 but WinPwn did not recognised when I plug in my iPhone in recovery mode and stops there. I am now having an iPhone in recovery mode and going nowhere. Anybody have the same problem ? Please help !
