Today at the D9 conference AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega was surprised to find out that AT&T did not sell unlocked iPhones. When asked why AT&T would not sell unlocked iPhones to those going out of the country, de la Vega responded by saying to buy the phone at full price and it would be unlocked. When the crowd and press corrected him, De la Vega said he would look into the issue.
Ralph de la Vega has also confirmed at the that AT&T is indeed working a shared data plan. For example, if you had an iPhone, iPad, and an AT&T netbook all your minutes and data would be shared from a unified pool.
Unfortunately, there is no time frame or cost associated with this shared data plan.
