Retailers, vendors and professionals who provide products and services outside traditional retail or office settings now have a way to be paid more quickly with a secure and easy-to-use application. Swipe, from app developer AppNinjas, enables credit and debit card payments to be quickly processed from any location. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and, soon, Android devices.

Originally priced at $29.99 (USD), Swipe is now only $0.99 (USD) on the App Store and comes with a free card reader valued at $79. In addition, Swipe has no monthly minimums, set-up or activation fees. A monthly charge of $24.95 includes access to the Authorize.Net gateway. Swipe keeps costs low for vendors by offering a transaction charge of only 24 cents, plus 1.74 percent of the amount charged to the credit or debit card for qualified transactions, which is less than competing mobile payment systems.

"We have made it as easy as possible for sellers to use Swipe," said John Waldron, CEO of AppNinjas. "Our system is simple, totally mobile, and inexpensive. And sellers and buyers can be assured of financial privacy since Swipe incorporates state-of-the-art security to keep all information safe and secure."

Swipe employs SSL encryption that transmits information back and forth securely. It stores login details in the Apple Keychain, which provides encryption and application isolation that further improves security. Swipe also supports Address Verification (AVS) for ZIP code and street address to authenticate the identity of the credit card holder and CVV fraud detection to recognize invalid credit cards.

AppNinjas' Swipe app is recognized for its extremely personalized level of customer service. "Every new Swipe user is assigned to one of our customer service representatives - a real person in Dublin, Ohio - who is available by email or phone to assist with every step of the start-up process," added Waldron.

The convenience of Swipe can make the difference between actually making a sale or not, since at settings like street fairs, craft shows or music performances, people may not have enough cash on hand to purchase an item. The ability to take payment by credit card on the spot, without the need for electrical hookups for portable card terminals, makes it easy for vendors to accept payment at anytime. Swipe instantly authorizes the card so that vendors know they will be paid, removing the risk of accepting a check from someone unknown to the seller.

Swipe is particularly popular with photographers, who often shoot outside their studios at locations such as weddings, schools, Little League games and community events. Service professionals such as plumbers, landscapers, locksmiths and handymen can accept payment on the spot when the job is complete. Musicians and bands are also finding Swipe boosts sales of CDs, T-shirts, posters and other items they sell at shows and bar gigs. Artisans at crafts shows and street festivals use Swipe to expand the number of people they can sell to. Swipe is even used by some Girl Scout troops, whose cookie sales have improved because they now accept credit cards.

Swipe will allow you to accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Transactions are made with a single screen entry that usually takes less than three seconds. Receipts can be sent by email to customers at the time of purchase, giving the seller the ability to promote other products, reduce chargebacks, and encourage repeat business.

Pricing and Availability:
Swipe Credit Card Terminal 5.0 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Business category.
