Skype Updates iPhone App With Video Calling!

Posted December 30, 2010 at 12:19am by iClarified
Skype has updated its iPhone app to make Skype to Skype video calls over Wi-Fi and 3G.

With Skype on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you can make and receive calls, and instant message anyone else on Skype, wherever they are in the world. You can also save on international calls and text messages to phones. Skype is free to download and easy to use. With the latest version, you can now call over 3G, and keep Skype running in the background.

What's New In This Version:
• Make Skype to Skype video calls on WiFi and 3G*
• Call Skype desktop users (Mac OS X or Windows) and other iPhone users.
• Two-way video calls supported on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen.
• Receive only video supported on iPad and iPod touch 3rd gen, with no camera.
• Make video calls in portrait and landscape.
• Skype video calling requires iOS 4.0 or above.
*Additional Data charges may apply

You can download Skype from the App Store for free.

now they need to optimize all these types of chats in an IPAD version. its just a bit lame looking at al the black on a iphone size window on an ipad, and when you (2X) it is all crappy. video should stay same size obviouslly, but everything else should do something.

Videochat sucks compared to FaceTime. FaceTime is excellent on both WLAN and 3G.

its funny all these chats are free yet they refuse to talk to each other. lame, but they all work well. Facetime is the best tho.

The sound is great but the video is very poor compared to Yahoo! Messenger which also works on iPhone 4 and PC. Not to mention Tango&FaceTime videocall quality. I really hope that they will make better video while leaving sound untouched.
