Apple is including a USB Software Reinstall Drive with the new MacBook Air thereby eliminating the need for external CD-ROM drive when reinstalling the operating system.

You can see the device pictured on Apple's MacBook Air product page among the items included in the box.

And once again Apple is leading the way by getting rid of optical drives. soon all computers wont have moving parts, well maybe the only part will be the hinge for the screen.
