These are simple instructions on how to boost the volume level of songs or video when playing in iTunes. You may need to do this if the audio track for a particular song or video is too low to hear.

@Everyone: If your music is in Mp3 format, then don't bother using the method mentioned in this article or try re-encoding it with a higher volume - instead just use the freeware Wind0w$ application 'Mp3Gain' to essentially re-program your Mp3 files to output on any device louder without the need for re-encoding; which takes longer and degrades audio quality. I think there is also a Mac version of Mp3Gain on the developer's website. If anyone is interested in using it, just Google search it.

I tried this but didn't notice the volume increase when I played it on my iPhone. This works only for systems connected to iTunes from your pc? Seems to me that it should work on any device since you're "encoding" the track itself with higher volume.

You're not re-encoding it. If you take that volume adjusted track, right click it, convert to AAC or mp3 or whatever option may be there for you, THEN it will be re-encoded. Load that on your iPhone and it should be louder.

Thanks Tom, your a saint!! This worked doing it your way only... it's been driving me nuts cause my fav song has super quiet volume when I used the aux in my car connected to my iPhone even when my car volume was cranked. Works perfect now... thanks pal!

Or just add volume by changing the dB level on your equalizer.

This is better cause it's applied to the individual movie and saved for future playbacks. Good for downloaded video with quiet audio tracks
