You can now post photos from Instagram's mobile website. The feature is only active when visiting the website from a mobile device such as the iPhone or iPad.

The feature could help Instagram gain popularity in emerging markets where downloading their app may be cost prohibitive. Users can skip download wait time, data costs, and storage requirements while getting basic functionality.

The company tells TechCrunch, “Instagram.com (accessed from mobile) is a web experience optimized for mobile phones. It’s designed to help people have a fuller experience on Instagram no matter what device or network they are on.”


The news may be also welcomed by iPad users as Instagram has yet to release a native app for the tablet.
