Another report has confirmed that Apple is testing under-display Face ID for the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro.
In a recent post on Weibo, leaker Digital Chat Station corroborated rumors that Apple aims to move Face ID under the display for next year's iPhone Pro models. Notably, the leaker does not expect the iPhone 18 Air to receive the same upgrade.
Hmm, I checked in with the supply chain a few days ago — the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are indeed testing under-display 3D Face ID with a single HIAA punch hole; the iPhone 18 and 18 Air use the usual 2+1 punch hole setup…
The post follows an intriguing report from The Information last weekend. According to the site's sources, Apple plans to embed Face ID components, proximity sensors, and ambient light sensors under the display for the iPhone 18 Pro models, while moving the camera cutout from the center to the top-left corner.
Although Digital Chat Station does not confirm the repositioning of the front-facing camera, the post adds weight to rumors of significant design changes coming to next year's iPhone lineup.
