VLC has announced that they've started working on VLC for the new Apple TV. The news comes via their weekly report.
"Oh, and one more thing... we started to prepare VLC for tvOS."
Few details are offered but they did confirm video playback is working.
Finally, some code to build VLCKit for the new tvOS was merged. It's very early though, but we have video playback! :)
Stay tuned for more updates as developers begin readying your favorite apps for the new Apple TV. You can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS.
I'm still hoping for an Elgato EyeTV app that would allow playback of live TV, scheduling and playback of recorded shows etc from your Mac. Here's hoping.
If you have an HDHomeRun box that you're using with EyeTV, just download the Channels app, and you'll at least be able to watch live TV through the HDHomeRun. No way to watch recorded stuff with this that I know of.
