Inside Look at Apple's Top Secret Apple Watch Health Lab [Video]

ABC News was granted an inside look at the top secret health lab where Apple has been gathering fitness data for the Apple Watch. The company has kept the lab under wraps for two years with no cameras and no outsiders allowed in until now.

Apple SVP Jeff Williams reveals that Apple employees have been working out at the facility for years without even knowing what they were working on. It allowed Apple to learn how to measure calorie burn and where exercise actually starts, said Jay Blahnik, formerly a Nike+ FuelBand Consultant.

In the lab, there are climate chambers which simulate different environments for testing. There's also yoga mats and a variety of exercise equipment from treadmills, to ellipticals, to rowing machines.


Williams said, "I think we've amassed already what may be one of the world's largest pieces of data on fitness and our view is we're just beginning. The impact on health could be profound."
