Currently Im on a jailbroken iPhone 4s running firmware 5.0.1. I want to update it to 5.1.1 but not to iOS 6. Ive downloaded the 5.1.1 ipsw file. Can anyone tell me how exactly I should proceed? Can I update using iTunes? Or do I need to restore using redsnow even though Im actually updating? Thanks.

I have the same issue, and i want to update to 5.1.1, but i am almost sure that it's not possible, because apple stoped signing the 5.1.1 unless there's another way to do the update.
I'll be following your msg, who knows maybe someone will give us another solution.
thx

Unless you've saved your SHSH blob 5.1.1, I don't believe you can update to that firmware, like the previous answer said. To save your blobs moving forward, use TinyUmbrella:
