Meta has announced a significant update for its Ray-Ban Meta glasses, introducing new features and expanded availability. The standout addition is the live translation feature, now rolling out globally, alongside new frame options and enhanced app integrations.
The live translation feature, previously in Early Access in select regions, is now available across all supported markets. It enables real-time conversations in English, French, Italian, and Spanish without requiring Wi-Fi or network connectivity, provided language packs are pre-downloaded. Users can hear translations through the glasses, while a translated transcript appears on their paired phone. To activate, users say, "Hey Meta, start live translation." This feature is designed for scenarios like asking for directions abroad or communicating with family across language barriers.

New frame and lens options for the Skyler model are also available starting today. These include Shiny Chalky Gray with Transitions Sapphire lenses, Shiny Black with G15 Green lenses, and Shiny Black with Clear lenses, catering to varied style preferences.
Meta is expanding music app support beyond the US and Canada, adding Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam for users with English as their default language. Users can ask Meta AI to play music or provide details about songs, such as titles or album release dates, by saying, "Hey Meta, what's the name of this song?"

Instagram integration is coming soon, allowing users to send and receive direct messages, photos, audio calls, and video calls via the glasses. This complements existing WhatsApp, Messenger, and native phone messaging capabilities. Users can initiate actions with commands like, "Hey Meta, send a message to Lisa on Instagram."
In the US and Canada, a continuous vision-based Meta AI conversation mode will soon be generally available. This lets users interact naturally without repeatedly saying "Hey Meta," for tasks like identifying pantry substitutes or selecting wine pairings. The feature activates with, "Hey Meta, start live AI."
Meta AI access on the glasses is expanding in the EU today, with real-time visual query responses rolling out next week. This functionality launched in the UK earlier this month. Ray-Ban Meta glasses will also soon be available in Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates.
You can purchase Ray-Ban Meta glasses starting at $299.
