Apple released a new firmware update for AirPods Max today after pulling the update released on Monday.

The 7E99 build was released on March 31, 2025 alongside iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4. It was supposed to introduce support for lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio; however, users had problems installing the update.

When used with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later, AirPods Max with USB-C and firmware update 7E99 enable lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio for the ultimate listening experience and even greater performance for music production, content creation, and gaming.

Now Apple has released a new 7E101 build with the same release notes, removing the 7E99 build from its firmware update history.
