Apple will purportedly release an update to its popular AirTag tracker in May or June of 2025, according to a new rumor from leaker Kosutami.
In a post on X today, the leaker wrote:
"So we're here with the next generation of AirTag in May or June."
Kosutami did not provide any additional information about the features the next-generation AirTag will bring; however, we've previously seen a few details leak from Mark Gurman.
In a newsletter to subscribers last year, Gurman predicted that the new AirTag would be findable from greater distances due to a new chip.
Codenamed B589, the AirTag will allegedly feature a new ultra-wideband chip on par with the one in the iPhone 15. Currently, the AirTag can be located using Precision Finding from approximately 10 to 30 meters away, depending on conditions. The new model is expected to triple that distance.
At the time, Gurman anticipated a launch around mid-2025, which aligns with today's leak from Kosutami.
