The newly released beta of macOS Sequoia 15.4 brings Apple's new categories features to the Mail app for Mac.
Apple introduced categories in Mail with the release of iOS 18.2. The feature enables the Mail app to automatically sort your email messages into categories to help you find and manage messages quicker.
The categories are:
● Primary: Find personal messages and time-sensitive information.
● Transactions: Keep track of your confirmations, receipts, and shipping notices.
● Updates: Catch up on news, newsletters, and social updates.
● Promotions: Browse your coupon and sales emails.

Apple says that when a Transactions, Updates, or Promotions message includes time-sensitive information, it will also be included in the Primary message list.
To show the All Mail category, single click the category you're already on. To get back to a list view with all your messages in chronological order, select "Show Mail Categories" from the View menu.
Developers with an Apple Silicon Mac can download the macOS 15.4 restore image from here. Or, for devices running macOS 13.4 Ventura or later, go to System Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and choose the macOS Sequoia Developer Beta to install this software.
