Apple has been testing a 7.5W reverse wireless charging feature for the iPhone 17 Pro, according to a new rumor from Instant Digital.
In a post on Weibo, the leaker says...
Apple has been testing a 7.5W reverse charging feature on the iPhone 17 Pro. It's unclear whether this will be made available for use this time...
In fact, this feature is pretty handy for emergency charging of earbuds—I used this function often when I had a Samsung.
Attached to the post is an image of Samsung's Wireless PowerShare which allows devices like wireless earbuds to be charged by placing them on the back of your smartphone.
While Apple has yet to support reverse wireless charging, it did introduce reverse wired charging with the iPhone 15. This feature lets you charge AirPods, Apple Watch, or another small device that supports USB Power Delivery at up to 4.5 watts.
--- ● If you have another device with a USB-C connector, connect it to your iPhone with a USB-C cable, such as the one included with your iPhone.
● To charge a device that has a Lightning connector, connect it to your iPhone using an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable.
● Charge your Apple Watch by connecting an Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable directly to your iPhone. You can also connect a Magnetic Charging Cable to your iPhone with the Apple USB-C to USB Adapter. ---
Rumors over the past week suggest Apple may be planning a major change to the iPhone 17 Pro's rear casing. New renders visualize a rumored camera bump that extends across the back of the device, with the camera lens array on one side and the flash, LiDAR, and microphone on the other.
