Apple is planning to launch a smart home IP camera in 2026, targeting annual shipments in the tens of millions, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a post on X today, Kuo said that Goertek has received the 'NPI' (New Product Introduction) and will be the exclusive assembly supplier for the smart home camera.

The smart home IP camera, scheduled for production in 2026, is designed to integrate seamlessly with other Apple hardware products via wireless connectivity. Current global smart home IP camera shipments are 30–40 million units per year, with Apple's long-term goal of annual shipments of 10+ million units for this product line. This strategic move demonstrates Apple's continued exploration of growth opportunities in the home market. I believe the user experience will be significantly enhanced by Apple's great ecosystem and deep integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri.

While Apple does not currently make its own security camera, it does let users manage compatible cameras in the Home app.

With HomeKit Secure Video, you can add your home security cameras in the Home app to record your footage and view it from anywhere. It's all end-to-end encrypted, and none of the video counts toward your iCloud storage. You can access HomeKit Secure Video on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV.

HomeKit Secure Video Features:
● Video is privately analyzed by your home hub using on-device intelligence to determine if people, pets, or cars are present. You can view the last 10 days of activity in the Home app.
● You can invite other people who use iCloud to share control of your home and view video from your cameras in the Home app.
● Everyone you share with can view live camera streams when they're at home. You decide if they can view recordings and stream video remotely, and if they can manage your cameras.

There are an abundance of options for home security cameras; however, an official Apple offering would be quite popular and could stand out due to Apple's emphasis on privacy, seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, and user-friendly design.
