iPhone 17 Slim Rumored to Feature 6.6-inch Display, A19 Chip, 8GB RAM, More

Apple is developing a new slim iPhone model to replace the iPhone Plus, which could boost sales in 2025, according to a new report by Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Tech Research.

The 'iPhone 17 Slim,' also referred to as the 'iPhone 17 Air,' will allegedly feature a 6.6-inch display. That would make it slightly larger than the 6.1-inch iPhone 17 and 6.3-inch iPhone 17 Pro, but slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Pu believes the new device will feature an A19 N3P chip, 8GB of LPDD5 RAM, a 24MP 6P FaceTime camera, and a single 48MP 7P rear camera.

Given the name, we can assume the new model will be noticeably thinner than the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro; however, we haven't seen any specifications on how much thinner. The iPhone 16 Pro is 8.25mm (0.32-inch) thick. Compare that to Apple's new slim iPad Pro at 5.1 mm (0.20 inch) thick.

Haitong projects that iPhone shipments for 2024 will decline by 4% year-over-year to 223 million units. Within this forecast, the iPhone 16 models are expected to account for 88 million units in the production plan. The firm maintains its outlook that the iPhone 16 will have a mild sales cycle, followed by a strong replacement cycle next year, driven by the new iPhone 17 Slim and the gradual rollout of AI features.

They need to have more light sensors to control the fidelity of the photographs to what the human eye actually sees. Like no processing is bad with exposures and blurring and other things, simulated natural is bad when there actually fantastic morning autumn colours that get muted, and the apple comp.photography beautifies everything beyond reality. The photographic styles thing is not a scientific measurement and possibly artificial no matter which dot on the grid is chosen. I am tempted to buy an actual decent camera that will capture the actual colours in a scene in high fidelity and accuracy. I have the iPhone 16 pro max 516GB. Though I think the iPhone XS had better colour management for the camera. I wish I could select older iPhones’ computational photography models. Or have better control on the process. At least with the XS I know the sky would be the same blue my eyes saw. Rather than a deeper blue.
