Apple is Working on At Least Four New Vision Devices [Gurman]

Apple is working on at least four new Vision devices that will arrive over the next few years, according to a new report from Mark Gurman.

In a recent newsletter to subscribers, Gurman says that a low-end Vision headset is set to arrive as early as next year, followed by a new Vision Pro headset in 2026. The low-end model is expected to cost around $2000 and will likely use a less powerful processor and cheaper materials. It will also lack EyeSight, a feature that displays the wearer's eyes on the front of the headset. Sales of the low-end Vision headset are expected to at least double that of the Pro model.

Interestingly, Apple is rumored to be working on two more products that remain largely unknown: smart glasses and AirPods with built-in cameras.

Into 2027, the team is considering launching smart glasses on par with the Meta Ray-Bans, as well as AirPods with cameras. The idea is to salvage the billions of dollars spent on the Vision Pro's visual intelligence technology, which can scan the environment around a user and supply useful data. We'll get a taste of this with an upcoming visual intelligence feature on the iPhone 16, but the plan is to bring the Vision Pro's ability to understand its surroundings to more products.

Gurman highlights that Apple is no longer leading in several key technologies, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, competitors are advancing rapidly in areas that could redefine how users interact with technology. As competition intensifies over the next few years, especially from emerging players, Apple will need to push hard to maintain its position, particularly within the smart home space.
