Apple released a major new firmware update for its AirPods Pro 2 wireless earbuds today.
The firmware is version 7A294, up from 6F8, which was released in June. It applies to both the AirPods Pro 2 with Lightning Charging Case and AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C Charging Case.
Version 7A294 release notes
When used with an iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and watchOS 11-supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 2 firmware update 7A294 makes the hands-free experience even more seamless by being able to nod your head "yes" or shake your head "no" to respond to Siri announcements like calls, messages, and notifications. This update also adds Voice Isolation to calls with AirPods Pro 2 to help ensure you come across clearly by removing background noise around you for whoever you are speaking to. Gamers also now have the best wireless audio latency Apple has ever delivered for mobile gaming and can enjoy improved voice quality, including 16-bit, 48kHz audio, when chatting with teammates and other players. In addition, this update includes performance improvements to Personalized Volume with AirPods Pro 2.
Firmware updates are delivered periodically while your AirPods are charging and in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Because firmware updates are delivered automatically, you don't need to update your AirPods.
To use your iPhone or iPad to check that your AirPods are up to date, make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, then tap the Info button next to the name of your AirPods. Scroll down to the About section to find the firmware version.
If you don't already have AirPods, they are available at the links below:
● AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) - $189.99 ($59.01 off)
