New details about the features of the next generation Apple Watch Series 10 have purportedly been leaked in a report from 9to5Mac.

Apple is expected to unveil a new Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 3 at a special 'It's Glowtime' event on September 9. Earlier today, Bloomberg reported that the new Apple Watch would get Sleep Apnea detection and now 9to5Mac sources are confirming this and alleging that the device will also get an updated ECG/heart rate sensor.

According to reputable sources speaking to 9to5Mac, Apple Watch Series 10 will have more than just bigger screens. This includes an updated ECG/heart rate sensor that will unlock new features and provide more accurate results. One of these features is sleep apnea detection, which was reported by Bloomberg today and now corroborated by our sources.

Users will likely need to wear the Apple Watch when sleeping for a few days before a sleep apnea diagnosis will be made. Apple is also said to be using new algorithms in the Health app on iPhone to process data from Apple Watch, including detection of atrial fibrillation. These new features will likely be available on both the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Unlike the other two models, the Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to get a significant tenth anniversary redesign with a thinner case and larger displays.

The new smaller model has a higher resolution than the 41mm Apple Watch, but slightly lower than the 45mm Apple Watch. For the new larger model, the resolution is similar to that of the 49mm Apple Watch Ultra, but also slightly smaller. This leads us to believe that Apple Watch Series 10 will be available in both 44mm and 48mm sizes.

Apple will reportedly introduce new watch faces designed to take full advantage of the updated screens. Among them is 'Reflections,' a watch face that dynamically responds to ambient light. Additionally, a new Hermès watch face, 'Regatta,' inspired by the sailing competition, will feature an easy-to-use timer. Notably, the Regatta watch face is available for Apple Watch Ultra, suggesting there could be Hermès bands designed specifically designed for the Ultra model. Finally, it's said a new complication will be added that shows information about tides.

Another improvement allegedly coming to the Apple Watch Series 10 is better water resistance. Currently, the Series 9 is water resistant to 50 meters, but it's not recommended for scuba diving. The Apple Watch Ultra can be submerged up to 100m is safe recreational scuba diving to 40m. Sources say Apple will certify the Apple Watch Series 10 for 'high-speed water sports up to 20 meters deep' and bring its Depth app to the device.
