Apple is preparing to launch its iPhone 16 series later this year, with new information suggesting a strong focus on the Pro models. According to The Elec, the company anticipates that demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will significantly surpass that of the standard iPhone 16.

As of last month, the parts industry estimated that Apple's production plan for the four iPhone 16 series models would reach 90.1 million units by the end of this year. The breakdown by model is approximately: Standard model 24.5 million units (27%), Plus 5.8 million units (6%), Pro 26.6 million units (30%), and Pro Max 33.2 million units (37%), with the Pro lineup accounting for 67% of the total.

The site expects Apple to produce 59.8 million units of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max by the end of the year. They note that parts production volume will likely be about 10% higher to account for defects that occur in the manufacturing process and to secure replacement parts for customer damaged devices.

The Elec also predicts that LG Innotek and Jahwa Electronics will provide the initial batch of OIS actuators for the folded zoom telephoto camera module expected on both the Pro and Pro Max models. After initial batch production, folded zoom components could also be supplied by Cowell or Foxconn. The folded zoom image sensors will be supplied by Sony, and the lenses by Largan Precision.
