Paid iCloud is Apple's Most Popular Service [Report]

The most popular Apple service in the USA is paid iCloud, according to a new report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).

The analysts at CIRP examined the penetration of various Apple services into the company's U.S. customer base. Paid iCloud storage was the most common, with nearly two thirds of customers subscribing. Apple Music and Apple Podcasts take second and third place.

The two paid streaming media services, Apple Music and Apple TV+, reach 42% and 32% of Apple customers, respectively. Two other media-based apps, Podcasts and News, have about one-third and one-quarter penetration, though survey respondents may not be specifically referring to paid subscriptions. We expect it disappoints Apple that AppleCare continues to achieve a much lower share of customers, with only 17% of Apple iPhone buyers also purchasing AppleCare.


The popularity of iCloud subscriptions is unsurprising as there is no rival service available to users with the same features and tight integration with iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Knowing this, Apple has long kept iCloud storage prices high, despite complaints from users.
