Apple plans to assemble its high-end iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max models in India for the first time this year, according to a Bloomberg report. This corroborates an earlier report from Money Control.

Key partner Foxconn Technology Group will begin assembling the new marquee devices within weeks of their global launch this fall, people familiar with the matter said. It's begun training thousands of workers at its factory in southern Tamil Nadu state as it rushes to produce the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max as close to the global debut as possible, they said, asking not to be named as the information is private.

The move will also mark the first time Apple's entire iPhone range is produced in the country. Similar to last year, the standard iPhone 16 models will also be made in India and available on the first day of sales. Currently, India accounts for up to 14% of Apple's global output, but this portion is expected to rise as production ramps up.

Additionally, Apple partners with Pegatron and the Tata Group in India. These suppliers could also begin making the Pro version of iPhone 16 in the near future, according to sources.
