Apple has announced that Apple Maps can now provide real-time transit information in Tokyo, Japan. Users can view detailed real-time transit updates for over 20 rail, bus, and tram lines to help plan and confirm their routes across the metropolitan area.
Apple Maps now provides real-time transit information for more than 20 rail, bus, and tram lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area, including services offered through JR East, Tokyo Metro, and other agencies via ODPT (Open Data Public Transportation Council). With real-time updates, users can view detailed schedules, real-time departure and arrival times, and route transfers to assist in their travel planning. Apple Maps will also provide important real-time information such as service disruptions and delays. No software update is required. When users plan routes using public transportation, detailed real-time transit information will be displayed.
With the release of iOS 18 this fall, users across Japan will also get beautiful topographic maps on their iPhones, featuring contour lines, shaded relief, and hiking trails.
