Adobe Announces New Features for Illustrator and Photoshop [Video]

Adobe has announced new features for Illustrator and Photoshop that aim to accelerate creative workflows and give creators more control.

Illustrator is introducing new tools including an all-new Generative Shape Fill (beta) to quickly add detailed vectors to shapes by entering text prompts directly in the Contextual Taskbar. Generative Shape Fill is powered by the latest Firefly Vector Model (beta). Additional new features in Illustrator include the Dimension Tool, Mockup (beta), Contextual Taskbar, Retype, enhanced selection tools, Text to Pattern (beta), Style Reference and more workflow enhancements.

Photoshop aims to accelerate core creative workflows and streamline repetitive tasks with the Selection Brush Tool, Adjustment Brush Tool and enhancements to the Type Tool and Contextual Taskbar. These tools offer new levels of control when selecting, compositing, adjusting images and working with type. Photoshop is also introducing new ways to ideate and create with Generate Image, powered by Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model.

Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator introduces several powerful tools aimed at making design processes faster and more intuitive. Among the highlights is the Generative Shape Fill (beta), powered by the latest Firefly Vector Model (beta). This feature allows designers to add intricate vector details to shapes simply by entering text prompts in the Contextual Taskbar, significantly speeding up the design process.

• Dimension Tool: Enables precise sizing for projects like packaging design and architectural drawings.
• Mockup (beta): Facilitates high-quality visual prototypes by automatically fitting art to real-life objects.
• Retype: Converts static text into editable text, simplifying font selection.
• Enhanced Selection Tools: Includes the new Enclosed Rectangular Marquee Selection for precise object selection.
• Text to Pattern (beta): Quickly creates scalable vector patterns using text prompts.
• Style Reference: Helps in editing and scaling vector graphics efficiently.
• Enhanced Pan and Zoom: Delivers up to 10 times faster navigation through complex documents.

Photoshop
Photoshop's latest update brings a suite of intuitive features designed to enhance core creative workflows and automate repetitive tasks.

Key enhancements include:
• Selection Brush Tool: Simplifies selecting and compositing elements.
• Adjustment Brush Tool: Allows non-destructive adjustments to specific image areas.
• Generate Image: Uses Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model to jumpstart ideation and creation with greater control.
• Enhance Detail in Generative Fill: Adds sharpness and detail to large images.
• Type Tool Enhancements: Streamlines the creation of bulleted and numbered lists.
• Contextual Taskbar: Introduces settings for shapes and object rotation, enhancing usability.

Additional features including Mockup (beta), Dimension Tool, Retype, Enhanced Pan and Zoom and Contextual Taskbar are also available today in the Illustrator app.

The Selection Brush Tool, Adjustment Brush Tool, Generate Image and more are all generally available in the Photoshop desktop app and web app today.
