Sunny Optical is set to begin supplying camera modules to Apple in 2025, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The company previously supplied lenses for iPhone, but was cut out of Apple's supply chain in 2023 after production problems.

In a post today, Kuo says that Sunny Optical has landed CCM orders for the M5 MacBook which could lead to orders for iPad and iPhone.

Sunny Optical will become Apple's new CCM supplier in 2025, with mass production and shipments in Vietnam for the CCM of the new M5 series MacBook models. Given that Sunny Optical is a first-tier CCM supplier in the world, if MacBook CCM shipments go smoothly, Sunny Optical may become the new CCM supplier for iPhone and iPad in the future.

Apple's CCM orders are around $13-15 billion annually, around three times Sunny Optical's yearly revenue. If the company can secure more Apple orders and grow other business, Kuo believe it could double revenue in the long term. Additionally, the analyst notes that Sunny Optical is the only supplier that can provide CCM and lenses simultaneously, giving it a competitive advantage.

Finally, due to improved production and communication, Sunny Optical is expected to gradually return to providing Apple with lenses starting in 2H24. It aims to restore lens supply allocation by 2025.
