Apple is planning to unveil a 'significantly skinnier' iPhone next year, according to a new report from Mark Gurman. This corroborates previous reporting from The Information.
In a newsletter post to subscribers, Gurman says Apple is also planning to make a thinner version of its MacBook Pro and Apple Watch.
I'm told that Apple is now focused on developing a significantly skinnier phone in time for the iPhone 17 line in 2025. It's also working to make the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch thinner. The plan is for the latest iPad Pro to be the beginning of a new class of Apple devices that should be the thinnest and lightest products in their categories across the whole tech industry.
Although Gurman doesn't elaborate on the specifications of the new iPhone, previous reports have suggested that multiple designs are being tested. It's rumored to feature an aluminum chassis, a smaller cutout for the front-facing camera and sensors, an A19 processor, and an improved front camera for enhanced video calls and selfies. The screen size will allegedly fall between the standard iPhone's 6.12-inch display and the iPhone Pro Max's 6.69-inch display. Additionally, the rear cameras might be moved from the upper-left corner to the top center of the phone's back.
