Leaked iPhone 16 Pro/Max Dimensions Allegedly Confirm Ultra-Thin Bezel

Dimensions for the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have allegedly been leaked, confirming reports of an ultra-thin bezel.

In a post on X, leaker Ice Universe, said:

iPhone 16 Pro Max : 163.024mm × 77.575mm × 8.26mm, screen: 6.883 inches, equal width on all four sides, panel bezel 1.153mm (S24U 1.55mm), total bezel including the middle frame 2.146mm (S24U 3.38mm). ​​​The iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the world's closest smartphone to a borderless sci-fi form factor.




According to Instant Digital the iPhone 16 Pro bezel is ever so slightly thicker:

iPhone 16 Pro screen bezel is 1.2mm
iPhone 16 Pro Max screen bezel is 1.15mm

For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro has a bezel size of about 1.71 mm and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a bezel size of about 1.55mm.


It's likely that Apple will use new BRS (Border Reduction Structure) technology to reduce the bezel size. BRS is a borderless display technology that makes the border at the bottom of the panel as thin as possible by rolling the copper wiring at the bottom upwards. The company's display suppliers, including Samsung, LG, and BOE, have purportedly secured the technology and are expected to use it for all four incoming iPhone models.



Other improvements rumored for the iPhone 16 Pro include an upgrade from 12MP ultra wide cameras to a new 48MP ultra wide camera. This higher resolution will match that of the main camera which is also at 48MP. The telephoto lens of the iPhone 16 Pro is also said to get an upgrade, moving to a 5X optical zoom lens. That matches the current capability of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will allegedly move to a Sony IMX903 image sensor from the current IMX803 sensor. The new sensor has a size of 1/1.14 inches and pixels that are 1.4 micrometers in size. Compare that to a pixel size of 1.22 micrometers for the IMX803.
