iPhone to Get Revamped Home Screen in iOS 18 [Gurman]

Apple is planning a major update to the iPhone's home screen in iOS 18, according to a new report from Mark Gurman.

In a newsletter today, Gurman claimed that iOS 18 will allow users to change the color of app icons and freely place them anywhere on the screen. Currently, iOS only allows app icons to be arranged in a grid layout.

Another fun improvement (unrelated to AI) will be the revamped iPhone home screen. That will let users change the color of app icons and put them wherever they want. For instance, you can make all your social icons blue or finance-related ones green — and they won't need to be placed in the standard grid that has existed since day one in 2007.

iOS 18 is also expected to bring a variety of AI-based improvements including voice memo transcription, photo retouching, faster Spotlight search, enhanced web search, smart replies, custom emojis, smart recaps, and a more natural Siri. More details on those new features here.

Apple plans to unveil iOS 18 at WWDC 2024 on June 10. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for full coverage of the event!
