Apple is planning to introduce a new 'Slim' iPhone in 2025 that will top the iPhone Pro Max as the company's flagship smartphone, according to a new report from The Information. Its debut would see the iPhone Plus model dropped from Apple's lineup.

Apple is developing a significantly thinner version of the iPhone that could be released as early as 2025, according to three people with direct knowledge of the project. The slimmer iPhone could be released concurrently with the iPhone 17, expected in September 2025, according to the three people with direct knowledge and two others familiar with the project. It could be priced higher than the iPhone Pro Max, currently Apple's most expensive model starting at $1.200, they said.

The company is purportedly testing different designs for the new iPhone 17 Slim. Sources say it may feature an aluminum chassis, a smaller cutout for the front-facing camera and sensors, an A19 processor, and an improved front camera for enhanced video calls and selfies. The screen size will allegedly fall between the standard iPhone's 6.12-inch display and the iPhone Pro Max's 6.69-inch display. Additionally, the rear cameras might be moved from the upper-left corner to the top center of the phone's back.

Notably, the iPhone 17 Slim was predicted earlier this month by Haitong Intl Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu; however, Pu predicted the Slim model would replace the Plus model and sit below the Pro models in Apple's lineup.

The debut of a high-end 'Slim' model would be reminiscent of how Apple unveiled the iPhone X. That device debuted at the same time as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, but offered a new high-end option for customers.
