Apple has 'almost no' hardware upgrades planned for its third generation Apple Watch Ultra, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a message to MacRumors, Kuo predicts a new model will be announced this year; however, it will offer minimal improvements.

In a direct message shared with MacRumors today, Kuo said that while the Apple Watch Ultra will be updated this year, the new model will have "almost no" hardware upgrades compared to the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Kuo did not reveal any specific changes planned for the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which will presumably launch in September.

Last year, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 gained a 3000nit display, a S9 SiP, and a double tap gesture. It's suggested that this year the larger smartwatch could gain the same Blood Pressure Sensor and Sleep Apnea Detection features that have been rumored for the regular next generation Apple Watch. Hopefully, we'll see some battery life improvements as well.

On the software side, Apple is expected to debut new AI powered features across its lineup of devices. We'll likely get a preview of those at WWDC 2024 in June.
