Apple has allegedly ceased production of its FineWoven accessories, a material introduced as an eco-friendly alternative to leather.

In a post on X, leaker Kosutami says FineWoven production lines have been stopped and removed.

FineWoven has gone.
Since its durability were bad.
All the production line was stopped and removed.
Apple would move to another material—Again, not the leather.

So see ya'll in leather hell.

Interestingly, the rumor comes just after Apple released a short video ad touting its shift to FineWoven. As we noted then, users have complained that the FineWoven material feels cheap and does not hold up well with use. It's prone to snags, retains stains more prominently, and shows wear quickly. Amazon even has a warning displayed on the product listing, letting potential customers know that the item is frequently returned.

Given Apple's desire to move away from leather, Kosutami's prediction that the company will seek a better leather subsititute seems likely.
