Apple's rumored 12.9-inch iPad Air may feature a mini-LED display, the same one currently used by the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, according to a new report from Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).
In a post on X today, Young claimed that the 12.9-inch iPad Air would use leftover displays from the iPad Pro, which will likely be upgraded to an OLED display this year.
Mini-LED displays offer improved contrast and black Levels, higher brightness, excellent color accuracy, and improved energy efficiency. A 12.9-inch iPad Air with a mini-LED display, at a lower price point than the iPad Pro, will certainly be a compelling option for customers who don't need all the power of the 'Pro' device, but value the additional screen real estate.
It's unclear exactly when Apple will unveil these new iPad models; however, recent rumors suggest the launch will happen around the week of May 6. We've already seen them pop up in an Indian regulatory database, which typically happens shortly before release.
