Apple has added support for faster Qi2 wireless charging to the iPhone 12 with the release of iOS 17.4, according to MacWorld.

Although it hasn't officially been announced by Apple, iOS 17.4 appears to have unlocked Qi2 support for the iPhone 12. A series of tests and feedback from Macworld readers prove that the iPhone 12 now works at full 15W wireless charging speed when magnetically connected to a non-MagSafe Qi2 charger.

Qi2 offers magnetic attachment (based on MagSafe), faster charging, higher efficiency, and greater convenience, unifying the industry under one global standard. Apple added support for the standard to iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 with the release of iOS 17.2, but strangely it did not note the addition of support for iPhone 12 in the iOS 17.4 release notes.

Prior to the iOS 17.4 update, the iPhone 12 supported 15W certified MagSafe wireless charging, but just 7.5 watt Qi wireless charging. Now the iPhone 12 is reportedly able to charge at speeds of up to 15W when on a Qi2 charger.

MacWorld tested the iPhone 12 with an Anker Qi2 MagGo Wireless Charger. It reached 30% charge in 33 min and 50% charge in 64 minutes. Compare that to the official MagSafe charger which reached 30% in 38 min, and 50% in 70 minutes.
