Check out this first look at 'Presto,' Apple's new system for updating the software of iPhones while still in the box. Presto will be used by Apple Store employees to update their stock of iPhones, without needing to open the box.

iGen.fr shared an image of unit alongside the following description...

Presto is a small locker with two shelves — multiple units can be stacked on top of each other. This "iPhone toaster" — the best description that can be given — can accommodate 6 boxes at a time. Templates are used to correctly position the box according to its size.

It reportedly takes about 20 seconds to position a box on its rail. The iOS update itself takes around 15 to 30 minutes.

Apple estimates that selling new iPhones with up to date software will save customers around 20 minutes of setup time. That will result in a more enjoyable initial experience for buyers and could also prevent some issues that may be encountered with old software versions.
