Proton has announced the launch of a new 'Proton Mail' app for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Today, we're excited to broaden the horizons of secure communication by launching the Proton Mail desktop app. Anyone can now use the new Proton Mail desktop app for Windows and macOS, with a Linux version in beta. These new additions complement our existing web and mobile applications, ensuring you can keep your emails private across all your devices without being confined to a web browser.
Proton notes that the its new desktop app inherits from a decade of security enhancements built for its web app. Security features include zero-access encryption and end-to-end encryption, protection against trackers and phishing attempts, and its high-security account protection program, Proton Sentinel.
The ability to use a separate app from your browser for your email and calendar offers additional security benefits, such as protecting your emails or events from rogue browser extensions and allowing automatic updates without relying on your browser.
Additionally, Proton is introducing a new Security Center window that lets users easily create hide-my-email aliases to protect their identity.

The Proton Mail app is available on macOS, Windows, and in beta for Linux. You can download it from the link below...
