EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager is set to meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook in the United States next week, according to a new report from Reuters.
The meeting will be focused on European digital regulation and competition policy. Vestager will also meet with executives from Alphabet, Broadcom, Nvidia, and OpenAI.
Vestager will meet Apple CEO Tim Cook, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and its chief legal officer Kent Walker, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in San Francisco and Palo Alto on Thursday and Friday, her adviser Christina Holm Eiberg said. She will also meet OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati and its Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon.
Recently, the EU has forced Apple to make significant changes to its business. Last year, Apple had to switch the iPhone to USB-C from Lightning to comply with new regulations and this year it will need to make major changes to iOS and the App Store to allow third party app stores and sideloading, alternative payment systems, interoperability of services, and more.
