LG is set to supply up to 6.5 million displays per year for Apple's next generation OLED iPad Pro, according to a report from yeux1122 on Naver.
The company has purportedly negotiated a larger share of orders than rival Samsung. It will begin mass production in February 2024 and is expected to produce 6.2 - 6.5 million units per year.
-----
- Negotiated with new leadership Apple
- Supply of 6.2 million to up to 6.5 million units per year starting from mass production volume in February 2024 (major advance payment issues with Apple resolved to some extent)
- In particular, in the two-stack tandem structure that is being applied for the first time, the company is ahead of the Samsung camp in terms of supply of organic materials devices, etc.
-----
Notably, the report claims that Samsung has been working to build a new supply for production of the panel, but has encountered quite a few "power heat generation process yield issues". Most issues have allegedly been dealt with and Samsung is expected to supply up to 4 million display units to Apple.
The new OLED iPad Pro models are expected to get slightly larger 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes. Codenames for the Wi-Fi and cellular models are J717, J718, J720 and J721. They are also expected to feature Apple's latest M3 processor.
