Apple is planning to introduce a new Apple Watch Ultra with a larger 2.12-inch Micro LED display in 2026, according to new report from TrendForce. The current Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a screen size of about 1.9-inches, so that would be a 10% increase.

TrendForce's Senior Research Vice President, Eric Chiou, analyzed Apple's progress in adopting new display technologies during the display technology session. He mentioned that the next-generation Apple Watch panel would use Micro LED as the display technology, with a size larger than the current Apple Watch Ultra at 2.12 inches.

The new display will purportedly be supplied by German LED giant ams OSRAM, who will provide Micro LED chips smaller than 10x10um, and LG Display, who will be responsible for the chip mass transfer engineering in addition to LTPO glass backplates.

Even with Apple's strong bargaining power in the supply chain, Chiou expects the new panels to cost up to $120. That's 2.5 to 3 times the price of the OLED panels being used currently.

Shipments will likely reach million-unit-level in the first year of launch, invigorating the demand for Micro LED chips.

Currently, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 retails for $799. It's on sale today for $699, its lowest price ever. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for more Apple Watch updates.
