Apple may be planning to hold its event to unveil the iPhone 15 on September 13th, according to a new rumor from 9to5Mac.

Multiple sources familiar with the matter told 9to5Mac that mobile carriers have been asking employees not to take days off on September 13 due to a major smartphone announcement. While this doesn't necessarily mean the launch is Apple-related, the company is known for holding its iPhone event in September.

This year, September 13th falls on a Wednesday. Most iPhone events have been held on a Tuesday; however, last year, Apple held its event on Wednesday, September 7th.

If Apple does hold its event on September 13th, the site expects that pre-orders would begin on Friday, September 15th. The official in-store launch would then take place a week later on September 22nd. Depending on how production goes, Apple could choose to launch specific models slightly later, as it did with the iPhone 14 Plus.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are both expected to get Dynamic Island and Ceramic Shield; however, rumors suggest the iPhone 15 Pro will have thinner bezels, a titanium frame, and 8GB of RAM.

The iPhone 15 Pro will likely utilize an A17 Bionic chip made with TSMC's 3nm process, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will stick with the A16 Bionic and 6GB of RAM. All four models will purportedly have a USB-C port and Qualcomm's 5G Snapdragon X70 modem.

Finally, it's predicted the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a periscope telephoto lens for better optical zoom while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could get a 48MP rear camera lens.
