Apple to Update AirPods Pro 2 With USB-C This Year [Kuo]

Apple is planning to update its AirPods Pro 2 wireless earbuds with USB-C later this year, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Notably, Kuo believes that Apple is not planning to release a USB-C update to AirPods 2 or AirPods 3.

I think this is likely the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2, with mass shipments expected in 2Q23-3Q23. By the way, Apple currently appears to have no plans for USB-C versions of the AirPods 2 & 3.


It's possible that this update was spotted in iOS 16.4 RC released earlier this week. The software update contained references to AirPods with the model number A3048 and a new AirPods case with the model number A2968.

If Apple does update AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C, we could see some good deals on stock with the Lightning port. They are currently on sale for 20% off, bringing their price down from $249 to $199.99.
