Apple may be planning to integrate Facebook Friends, Events, and Mail into iPhone OS 4.0 according to evidence found in the beta firmware.
Gunning for Safety found references to a Facebook account in the system file that describes adding accounts for mail, contacts, calendars, notes, etc.
It looks like Apple plans to implement Facebook’s Events into the iPhone’s Calendar app, as well as add Facebook’s friends network to the iPhones contacts database. Even more interesting is that Apple seems to have created its a separate type of contact for Facebook contacts. Perhaps on the iPhone they will actually be friends instead of just normal contacts on your phone.
