A leaked internal Apple document allegedly confirms that Wi-Fi 6E will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Obtained by leaker Unknownz21 and shared with MacRumors, the document feature diagrams of the iPhone 15 antenna architecture. D8x is the iPhone 15 Pro.
The standard iPhone 15 models, labeled as D3y, will continue to use Wi-Fi 6 rather than Wi-Fi 6E. For further reference, D7x refers to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, and D2y refers to the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, with the document outlining antenna design changes between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. MacRumors has seen additional documentation indicating that Wi-Fi 6E will be a Pro only feature.
Wi-Fi 6E uses the 6GHz wireless band to enable faster and more reliable wireless connections. Apple recently updated its MacBook Pro models with support for the standard and it was widely rumored to be coming to iPhone this year.
Unknownz21 tells MacRumors that this diagram is "only the tip of the iceberg" and that additional iPhone 15 series leaks, including full images, are coming ahead of the EVT development stage which will likely be reached in March.
Other leaked documents allegedly confirm that the iPhone 15 Pro will feature a faster 3nm A17 chip and solid-state volume and power buttons. The iPhone 15 will purportedly use the A16 chip and the same buttons.
Apple will likely release its next generation iPhone models this fall as usual. You can download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for more iPhone updates.
