iPhone 15 Pro Again Rumored to Feature Solid State Buttons

The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro is likely to feature solid state buttons, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

It's believed that Cirrus Logic will benefit most from the change.

Cirrus Logic is the primary winner for canceling physical buttons and the change to adopt solid-state buttons on the 2H23 high-end iPhone 15 models. My latest survey indicates that high-end iPhone 15 models will feature solid-state buttons and will equip with additional Taptic Engines to simulate the feel of physical buttons' force feedback.

Kuo says that if users like the solid-state buttons, then Apple will likely bring them to other devices as well.

As the exclusive supplier of Taptic Engine's controller IC for solid-state buttons, Cirrus Logic stands to benefit markedly from this new design. If users respond well to this new design, I think it may be adopted in other high-end models of product lines in the future.

Apple has already started trial production of the iPhone 15 ahead of its release this fall. In addition to solid state buttons, the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to feature a titanium frame, 8GB of RAM, an A17 Bionic chip, a periscope telephoto lens, a USB-C port, and Qualcomm's 5G Snapdragon X70 modem.
